About
I am a French citizen but have lived in the Newcastle-Upon-Tyne region since 1984. Originally from the northern suburb of Paris/France, I did all my education in that region.
After completing my studies, I was approached by Automobiles Peugeot to work in their R&D Research Centre which at the time was based in La-Garenne-Colombes, just outside the now famous business centre of La Défense.
In 1984, I followed my then girlfriend to England. We got married that same year and have 2 daughters.
I started my professional travelling life soon after being recruited as Sales Manager Europe by a local High-Tech company. After 10 years with this company, I was attracted by a local job offer in the Sunday Times. This new company was very embryonic and served the Lead Acid Battery Industry worldwide with a revolutionary product that was being fitted inside most car batteries. This new job took me to new horizons, travelling to places as far as Russia, Urkraine, the Middle-East and Africa. I stayed nearly 17 years with this company and remained local to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne when a US manufacturer of equipment to that very same industry approached me to cover those very same territories. I stayed 10 years in this job.
Achievements:
- Board Member of the French Business Council (supporting cultural and professional exchanges between the North-East and France) from 1994 to 2015.
- In 2006, Eric DONJON was the overall winner of the North-East Regional Language Network by winning the coveted North-East Export Communicator Award for his work on developing sales and relations with Russian and Ukrainian customers whilst still looking at improving company trade in over 34 other countries : https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/business/834309.accolades-exporters-region/
